WCT provides a range of programs from musicals to vacation programs, and weekend workshops to afterschool projects. For an overview of the kinds of programs we offer, visit our ‘What We Do‘ page.

Online registration is available and is HIGHLY recommended! Paper and email registration forms will still be accepted, but they are slower to process, so for popular programs which fill quickly, we encourage the use of the online form.

Registration is OPEN for Winter, School Vacation, and Summer 2016 programs.
Registration for Spring 2016 programs will open on March 1. Program details will be posted soon!


WINTER 2016 AND SCHOOL VACATION PROGRAMS

WWH2 – Have you ever heard of a 24 hour play festival? Where the plays are written, rehearsed and performed in one day? We’re taking our own spin on it!

Playwrights will come in on a Saturday morning. Activities and prompts will be provided, and they will write a play in ONE DAY! Later in the day, we’ll bring in actors to audition, and the plays will be cast on the spot. Then, one week later, we’ll have a rehearsal and a performance. A panel of judges will select two plays for further development to be workshopped for Open Arts Day, and it all happens in TWO DAYS ONLY!

This is an exciting way to create new work, and we hope that you’ll join WCT for this new spin on the 10 Minute Playwriting class.

WWC2A – Come watch the amazing tricks and illusions of WCT’s resident magician Evan Northrup in a free public performance — and then try them yourself! On Saturday March 12, spend the afternoon in our one-day-only Magic Lab! in a chance for the curious and mystified to learn the secrets behind the wand. In this two-hour workshop, students will learn about techniques and performance skills magicians use, as well as specific tricks to wow audiences. Pre-registration for the workshop is highly encouraged.

WI2C/D – Create unique poetry based on a cause, need or want that is important to you! Students in this intensive will use their poetry to focus on the best methods for connecting with an audience, build confidence as a performer, and gain techniques for crafting powerful poetic elements.

Imagination Station. Jump into the world of the arts and let your imagination run wild with a week of visual art, theatre, music, and dance. Be inspired by artistic masterpieces, travel to imaginary places, explore a new artistic skill, or make up a musical of your own. WCY2B – Core CYC Members choose a major and minor focus area from the following: Lighting Design, Sound Design, Costume Design, Stage Management, Scenic Design/Painting, Properties Construction and Management, Makeup and Hair Design, Stage Direction, Music Direction.

Training with professionals in these areas provides students with the skills to confidently contribute to a production process. Successful completion of the Core program provides students with the opportunity to lead a technical or production process for a WCT showcase, One-Act Festival, Spring Shorts Festival or other production opportunity as members of the CYC Company. Core members are encouraged to explore several areas before choosing a focus and applying to the CYC Company program.

Bring theatre to your afterschool program! Watertown Children’s Theatre partners with Parent-Teacher Associations and school administrators to offer creative dramatics and theatre workshops as part of after-school clubs and enrichment programs. Students are able to participate in these opportunities in the comfort of a known environment and take advantage of school-sponsored transportation (like activity buses) where available.

Broadway Bootcamp is back! The show title is currently TBA, but we’re certain it will be a blast! This smash hit summer program is an exciting opportunity to mount a musical on the Mosesian stage in just two weeks! This musical intensive will have participants singing, dancing, and acting their way to a full performance on August 5. Besides playing a role onstage, all participants will work on backstage committees to bring costumes, props, and other production elements to life!

In this weeklong intensive, our youngest performers will explore acting, singing, dancing and puppetry! Stories and songs will inspire our young actors to imagine, invent, and build characters of all kinds.     Clay animation is one of many forms of stop motion animation. A simple story will be developed, characters will be drawn and 3D models will be made using plasticine clay. A very short stop motion strip will be shot at the class.

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS

Strengthen your voice through individual lessons! Special attention will be paid to proper vocal technique, performance ability and stage deportment, as well as general music appreciation and awareness.

Tuition: $35/half-hour lesson
Location: Arsenal Center for the Arts, WCT Drama Space
Days/Times: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12:30-8:30 pm (half-hour slots)

Notice: WCT’s Voice Lesson Policy allows students to keep their assigned slots as long as they continue to register in consecutive terms.* As a result, new slots only become available at the transition between semesters when/if any ongoing students decide not to continue. People who are interested in having voice lessons with WCT are kept on a Wait List to be notified as spaces become available.
