WCT provides a range of programs from musicals to vacation programs, and weekend workshops to afterschool projects. For an overview of the kinds of programs we offer, visit our ‘What We Do‘ page.

Online registration is HIGHLY recommended! Paper and email registration forms are still accepted, but they are slower to process, so for popular programs which fill quickly, we encourage the use of the online form.

Registration is OPEN for Summer and Fall 2016 programs.


FALL 2016

WA1 – Looking to brush up your dance skills, scene work, and vocal performance? Then this is the workshop for you! In this 2 hour intensive, students will gain confidence and skills that will assist them in any audition, as well as receive feedback from a mock audition.

WMM1B – Everybody loves a Broadway ensemble singing and dancing together – but what does it really take to be a part of that classic chorus line? In this triple-threat class, budding performers will develop their singing, acting, and movement skills as they learn the techniques you need both to stand out proudly and to blend in seamlessly.

WMM1C-G – “More Than Moves” is just what it says it is: more than moves! In collaboration with WCT, local movement company Paradise Lost brings its fun-filled fusion of dancing, acting, movement, and improv in this series of four workshops. Instructors take a holistic approach to dance by focusing on values of collaboration, listening, and self-expression while leading classes. This series of workshops is designed for students at any level of experience or comfort with dance. Each of the four classes focuses on a specific foundation of movement that when put together make for a well-rounded performer and mover.

Move and groove with friends during “SLAM!” Instructors marry the skills of improvisational theatre, comedy, and dance performance in a series of games and activities that lead to the unique form of

Find yourself losing your balance more than you want to? We will help you find your footing in “BALANCE!” Instructors focus on the importance of core-strengthening to improve overall stability. Looking to stretch your boundaries? Join “REACH!” – a fun-filled workshop of activities and exercises that will leave students with tools for how to improve flexibility and properly warm-up before performance or physical activity. Students will be reaching for the stars by the end of the workshop!

WMM1F – CREATE! Saturday, Dec. 3, 4:00-6:00 pm

Let your imagination run wild in “CREATE!” Instructors facilitate collaboration among students to create their own dance pieces and learn some tips and tricks on how to pick up choreography along the way. At the end of the day, students will share the short pieces they have created with each other. This choreography-based workshop is perfect for aspiring directors and choreographers-to-be!

WWH1A – Our WCT PlayMakers will have the unique opportunity to try their hand at playwriting as they work together to write and perform an original story! Students will collaborate as an ensemble to write a one-of-a-kind theater piece that will be performed at our Fall Class Showcase. WCY1B – Core CYC Members choose a major and minor focus area from the following: Lighting Design, Sound Design, Costume Design, Stage Management, Scenic Design/Painting, Properties Construction and Management, Makeup and Hair Design, Stage Direction, Music Direction, Choreography.

Training with professionals in these areas provides students with the skills to confidently contribute to a production process. Successful completion of the Core program provides students with the opportunity to lead a technical or production process for a WCT showcase, One-Act Festival, Spring Shorts Festival or other production opportunity as members of the CYC Company. Core members are encouraged to explore several areas before choosing a focus and applying to the CYC Company program.

Eligibility Requirements: Completion of CYC Foundation training or Exemption.

Bring theatre to your afterschool program! Watertown Children’s Theatre partners with Parent-Teacher Associations and school administrators to offer creative dramatics and theatre workshops as part of after-school clubs and enrichment programs. Students are able to participate in these opportunities in the comfort of a known environment and take advantage of school-sponsored transportation (like activity buses) where available.

Broadway Bootcamp is back! The show title is currently TBA, but we’re certain it will be a blast! This smash hit summer program is an exciting opportunity to mount a musical on the Mosesian stage in just two weeks! This musical intensive will have participants singing, dancing, and acting their way to a full performance on August 5. Besides playing a role onstage, all participants will work on backstage committees to bring costumes, props, and other production elements to life!

    Mixed Media Sculpture. We will create one of a kind figures full of style and personality using a variety of materials!

    Drawing Painting & More. Experimenting with many painting tools, surfaces, styles and colors, we will use the story as inspiration to create masterpieces!

    Wheel. Learn to wedge clay, center on the wheel and experiment with basic forming and glazing techniques.

    Clay animation is one of many forms of stop motion animation. A simple story will be developed, characters will be drawn and 3D models will be made using plasticine clay. A very short stop motion strip will be shot at the class.

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS

Strengthen your voice through individual lessons! Special attention will be paid to proper vocal technique, performance ability and stage deportment, as well as general music appreciation and awareness.

Tuition: $35/half-hour lesson
Location: Arsenal Center for the Arts, WCT Drama Space
Days/Times: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12:30-8:30 pm (half-hour slots)

Notice: WCT’s Voice Lesson Policy allows students to keep their assigned slots as long as they continue to register in consecutive terms.* As a result, new slots only become available at the transition between semesters when/if any ongoing students decide not to continue. People who are interested in having voice lessons with WCT are kept on a Wait List to be notified as spaces become available.
